Welcome to this week’s episode of The Brief where we bring you news from across Nigeria and Africa!
Note from the Editors: We are trying something new! From next week we will have an “Editor’s Corner” where we highlight something we read this week which resonated.
Quote of the week:
“Mediocrity knows nothing higher than itself, but talent instantly recognizes genius.”
~ Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.
~ Elie Wiesel

The Nigerian National Bureau of Statistics just released their October 2019 inflation figures and…oh boy.
Quick facts: Year-on-year headline inflation is at 11.61% for October 2019 from 11.24% in Sept 2019. Food inflation is at 14.09% in Oct 2019(13.51% in September 2019 Inflation).
